Montrose 3-0 East Stirling: Report

30 April 2011 19:34
Gable Endies back with a bang Montrose bounced back to winning ways with a comprehensive 3-0 win over basement side East Stirling. Hammered 4-1 by champions Arbroath last weekend, the Gable Endies responded with a demolition job inside the first 18 minutes at Links Park. Sean Pierce opened the scoring with a seventh-minute minute header from Ross McCord's inswinging corner. After being fouled by Michael Andrews, Daryl Nichol then dusted himself down to beat Michael Andrews from the penalty spot three minutes later. Pierce doubled his tally for the afternoon when his low drive from 18 yards flew past helpless goalkeeper Michael Andrews, while Hugh Davidson saw his 25-yard drive tipped around the post. The home side pressed for a fourth goal after the break, but found Andrews keen to make amends, twice denying Montrose winger Terry Masson with smart saves.
