Defensive headache for Coughlin

East Stirlingshire are again struggling with a shortage of defenders as they host Berwick Rangers just seven days after conceding nine goals at Stirling with Steven Jackson and Michael Hunter heading a list of absentees due to suspension.

Also missing will be Raymond Buchanan (back), Rhys Devlin (knee), Michael Herd (groin) and Nathan Shepherd (knee) with Richard Miller a major doubt after missing training all week due to injury.

Head coach John Coughlin said: "I have spent all week trying to get players in on loan however it is not been successful. We are up against it, however we are determined to bounce back after last week's result.

"We will need to shuffle a few players about and be a lot more solid than we were at Stirling."

Berwick hope to have Dean Carse available after he shook off the whiplash injury he received in a car crash.

A knee problem continues to keep Dene Droudge out, while a back injury leaves Marc Lancaster sidelined.

The Borderers have climbed into fourth place on the back of three wins in a row,

Boss Ian Little saying: "We are in a play-off place and long may that continue.

"An early goal could be crucial in this game and if we score it they could get deflated, whereas if they get ahead they will be even more resolute about winning.

"It is usually a really tough game with the Shire but having got into fourth we need to do the business to stay there."
