Shire keen to sign top-flight defender

East Stirling head coach John Coughlin is looking to bring in a defender on loan from an SPL side before Sunday's clash against Berwick to replace Sean Kelly after he returned to St Mirren at the end of his temporary period.

Philipp Zufle is suspended following his red card against Rangers last weekend while the Shire are also missing Rhys Devlin, Jamie Benton, Jamie Glasgow and Craig Donaldson through injury.

Coughlin said: "We can pull level with Berwick with a win and that is our target from this game.

"These games have a bit of added spice after my time at Berwick and also David Greenhill, who has been playing well for us since moving over in the summer."

Berwick have Fraser McLaren available again as they look to win away from home for the first time this season.

Defensive duo Dean Droudge and Marc Lancaster remain sidelined with knocks as the Borderers look to build on last week's home win over Annan.

Assistant manager Robbie Horn said: "If you can put a few wins together in this league it can transform your season. We put on a good performance last weekend after letting ourselves down against Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Cup.

"Hopefully we can build on that and get that first win on the road, although we know their manager John Coughlin will have them very well organised and out to get a win themselves."
