Maxwell proves the difference

Scott Maxwell's first goal since September earned East Stirling a 3-2 victory in a topsy-turvy encounter at home to Elgin.

The visitors went ahead in the 15th minute when Cameron McDonald rose highest to head in Daniel Moore's free-kick.

Ross Jack's side had won 4-1 at Ochilview in August but were pegged back this time when Paul Quinn netted from the penalty spot after Brian Cameron brought down Michael Hunter in the 40th minute.

Two minutes after the break Hunter was again involved, this time releasing Michael Herd to put John Coughlin's men ahead with a clinical finish.

The Black and Whites were not behind for long however, as Craig Gunn tucked away his 11th goal of the campaign from close range five minutes later.

The game looked to be heading for a draw only for Maxwell's late header to clinch the Shire their third win in a week to keep their faint play-off hopes alive.
