McManus at the double in win

Paul McManus bagged a brace as league leaders Arbroath saw off a spirited East Stirling 3-2 at Ochilview Park.

The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes when Simon Murray fired in a neat finish from a tight angle.

The Shire came close to an immediate equaliser but Marc McCallum produced a fine save to push Conor Greene's header over the crossbar.

But they did draw level 10 minutes after the restart when David McKenna prodded home following some good work by Martin Shield.

Neil McCabe fired the hosts in front a minute later before substitute McManus levelled the game again in the 73rd minute with a fine finish into the top corner.

And McManus ensured the Smokies remain three points clear in League Two when he scored his second with eight minutes to go, turning in Craig Johnstone's well-placed cross.
