Shire stun Blue Toon

East Stirling provided the shock of the day with an impressive 2-0 win over Scottish League Two leaders Peterhead.

Despite arriving at Ochilview Park unbeaten in their nine previous outings, the Blue Toon found themselves a goal behind with just 14 minutes played when Christopher Townsley headed Jamie Glasgow's corner beyond goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

The visitors largely dominated proceedings with Rory McAllister forcing a good save from from Grant Hay with a close-range effort but the Shire secured a memorable win early in the second half.

Midfielder Iain Thomson was heavily involved and his pass found David Greenhill, who finished from inside the area to provide John Coughlin's team with their first three points of 2014.
