Kinnaird gives Shire the points

Lloyd Kinnaird's second-half strike helped East Stirling to a 1-0 win over East Fife on the opening day of the Ladbrokes Scottish League Two season.

Alistair Roy missed a good chance to give the hosts the lead inside five minutes, as he pulled an effort wide after finding space in the 18-yard box.

Jonathan Page tested East Stirling's Richard Barnard early on, as his close-range header was held well by the goalkeeper.

East Stirling's Kyle Carruthers shot wide at the near post before half-time and Page headed another chance over the bar after the Fifers started the second period well.

Defender Kinnaird notched his first goal for the club after 73 minutes, when he fired home convincingly after increased pressure from the home side.

The Shire, who will be looking to improve on last season's ninth-placed finish, held on as Fife failed to create any dangerous chances in the closing stages of the game.
