23 April 2011 20:39
Fife breeze past Peterhead East Fife scored a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 victory over bottom-placed Peterhead. David Muir headed wide for East Fife before Steven Hislop overhit an adventurous lob from 30 yards as they began brightly. David Donald did well to get himself in the way of a on-target Matthew Park header, but Craig Johnstone got the inevitable breakthrough for East Fife, slotting in from a Ryan Wallace cross after 28 minutes. Straight after, Fife goalkeeper Michael Brown could only parry a David Ross header and the follow up shot from Paul Tosh was superbly blocked by Dylan McGowan. John Ovenstone put a far post header wide for East Fife before Peterhead's Paul Emslie tried his luck from range and forced another fine save from Brown. Muir secured the points in the 54th minute, though, drilling in from six yards after a smart corner from Robert Linn. Park's curled free-kick narrowly missed after 71 minutes and Peterhead keeper Paul Jarvie did well to steer a drilled shot from Robert Linn wide as Fife cruised home.
