Fifers wait on Smiths

East Fife hope to have Liam Smith and Kevin Smith back against Berwick but Julen Etxabeguren is unavailable due to an ankle injury.

The Fifers kept hold of fourth place with a 2-0 win over Arbroath at the weekend and player-manager Gary Naysmith is looking for his side to set up a hat-trick opportunity against Montrose this weekend.

Naysmith explained: "It would be terrific to use home advantage to good effect to see off Berwick and set up the chance to make it nine home points from nine.

"It will be tough as Berwick are a good side, but we will give it our best shot."

Berwick player-manager Colin Cameron will miss out with a thigh injury and goalkeeper Willie Bald is also out with a broken hand.

He is joined on the sidelines by Stephen Tulloch (calf) and Darren Lavery (head).

Cameron said: "We secured a good win at Montrose on Saturday and that had us moving up the table from second bottom. Reaching the play-offs will be tough but we can do it and winning this game would go a long way to making it happen.

"We have not put a consistent run of victories together all season but it would be great to do so now."
