Smith at the double

Another double from Kevin Smith helped East Fife cruise past Elgin 3-1.

The forward made it 10 for the campaign with a brace last time out at Berwick and he picked up where he left off with a goal in the 35th minute for the second successive week - this time a close-range finish into the bottom corner.

And he could have doubled their lead before the break only to head over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

The 28-year-old then grabbed his second on the hour mark with a right-footed finish after being teed up by Allan Walker.

And Elgin knew they were slipping to their third straight defeat in the 72nd minute when Derek Riordan converted Smith's pass.

The visitors did pull back a goal with a minute to spare, Jamie Reid firing home but it would prove to be just a consolation.
