Flying start earns East Fife victory

East Fife continued their march towards the Ladbrokes League Two title as three goals in the first 24 minutes saw struggling Montrose brushed aside 3-0.

The opener came when a short corner was worked to Kevin Smith and from his cross, Jason Kerr's shot was deflected in by team-mate Jonathan Page.

It was 2-0 just three minutes later when Aaron Comrie fouled Smith and Stevie Campbell fired home a superb free-kick.

And with little more than a quarter of the game played, Gary Naysmith neatly played in Nathan Austin to score the third.

Kyle Wilkie went close to a fourth early in the second half, shooting just wide, and Austin was crowded out. Steven Campbell's effort was just kept out by keeper Jordan Millar before a quiet final 20 minutes.
