East Fife 3-0 Montrose: Match Report

Fifers call the tune

East Fife returned to winning ways with a 3-0 home victory against marooned Montrose.

Nathan Austin's double and an own-goal from Jonathan Crawford ensured the Fifers have yet to lose successive matches at Bayview this season, following the midweek beating by Berwick.

Montrose, bottom by nine points, went close early on when Scott Johnston headed the ball over the crossbar.

Austin showed him how it was done, nodding in a cross from player-manager Gary Naysmith after 24 minutes, and Crawford steered the ball into his own net 11 minutes later to give East Fife a two-goal cushion.

Austin extended the advantage just before the hour mark with a rising, right-foot finish.

Graham Webster saw an effort strike the crossbar for Montrose, who have failed to score in their last four away matches.
