Lithgow strike earns Stenny a draw

Alan Lithgow's third goal of the season earned Stenhousemuir what could be a vital 1-1 Scottish League One semi-final first-leg draw with East Fife.

The Warriors are attempting to retain their League One status against the lower-level Fifers and got off to the worst possible start as Ross Brown drilled a right-footed effort home just three minutes into the game.

Colin McMenamin headed over Josh Watt's cross and Jamie McCormack sent another header wide as they battled to get themselves back on level terms.

Greg Fleming then had to be sharp to turn away a Fraser Mullen effort at the other end.

Fleming had to make an ever better save to tip Nathan Austin's header over the crossbar early in the second half.

And the Warriors hauled themselves level in the 61st minute when Lithgow got on the end of Paul McMullan's centre to head home.

The remainder of the game passed without incident and the teams will battle it out again on Saturday at Ochilview Park.
