Bayne settles it

Substitute Graham Bayne scored five minutes from time as Arbroath beat East Fife 1-0 to stay within touching distance of the play-offs.

The Red Lichties remain level on points with fourth-placed Forfar after they recorded back-to-back away victories for the first time this campaign, while the home side slipped to ninth after a fifth consecutive defeat.

Arbroath were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute after Paul Willis brought down Lee Sibanda in the area, but Paul Sheerin's spot-kick was saved by Michael Brown.

Alexander Keddie was denied in the second half by Brown when he was found unmarked in the area from Sheerin's free-kick, while Collin Samuel and Robert Barr both went close with long-range efforts at the other end.

But with time running out Ross Chisholm crossed from the right and Bayne prodded home his third goal for the club to secure all three points.
