Annan hold on for win despite goalscorer Peter Weatherson seeing red

Peter Weatherson's scored and was sent off - but Annan held on for a 1-0 victory at East Fife which lifts them five points clear at the top of Ladbrokes Division Two.

Weatherson netted the only goal of the game with a header from Rabin Omar's cross in the 15th minute - but was dismissed five minutes before half-time for violent conduct.

After the breakthrough East Fife's Kyle Wilkie shot over, although Annan's Weatherson and Matt Flynn went close at the other end

Nathan Austin shot wide for the home side, then brought a save out of Jordan Hart, before Wilkie shot over.

However, Weatherson's dismissal altered the pattern of play and Hart needed to keep out a Gary Naysmith free-kick and Jonathan Page shot before the break, while Kieran MacDonald, Austin and Fraser Mullen all went close for the home side after it - but Annan held on.
