McBride spot-kick rescues point for Fifers

Scott McBride scored a late penalty as East Fife came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against relegation rivals Stranraer.

Chances were at a premium in a poor first half with neither side able to create many genuine opportunities on goal.

Frank McKeown came closest to opening the scoring for the visitors but saw his header well saved by Calum Antell.

The hosts responded through David Muir, who was denied by a fine save from David Mitchell at the opposite end.

Scott Durie went closer still moments later, but again Mitchell did well to push his effort round the post.

However, it was the Blues who took the lead just after the hour mark when Darren Gribben finished neatly inside the area.

But they were pegged back in stoppage time when McBride steered in a cool spot-kick to stay within five points of their opponents.
