Dunfermline striker Derek Young is surprised to have been released by the club after spending the last three seasons with the Pars.
The 25-year-old scored nine goals in 63 SPL appearances for Dunfermline after moving to East End Park from Aberdeen in May 2003, but is now searching for a new club.
"The manager told me he was looking to bring in a few new players and some had to be sacrificed," Young told the Daily Record.
"Unfortunately, I was one of them. Sometimes these things happen and you just have to get on with it.
"It's up to the manager whether he wants me in his team or not and obviously he doesn't."
