Yorkston backs Pars bid

Dunfermline Athletic chairman John Yorkston believes his club can escape relegation from the SPL after their 1-0 win at St Mirren closed the gap at foot of the table to one point.

A Tam McManUs goal at Love Street proved decisive on Monday evening and Yorkston is in an upbeat mood after the Pars secured their fourth win five league games.

He said: "We've beaten Hearts, Rangers and Hibs in the Scottish Cup and have followed that up with other wins in the SPL over Dundee United, Inverness and St Mirren.

"That shows we're the form team in the bottom half of the table.

"We played well against St Mirren, it was a bit of a battle, but it was never going to be a pretty game.

"Now we have to win our last three games and hope that someone does us a turn against St Mirren."
