Dunfermline Athletic are set to offer injury-prone midfielder Stephen Simmons a contract for next season.
The 24-year-old has played just five first-team games since his free transfer switch from Hearts in January and after undergoing knee surgery last week, he is unlikely to play again before his current deal expires at the end of the season.
However, Simmons told the Daily Record: "I've been told I'll be out for four to six weeks but hopefully I'll be back before then for the last couple of games of the season.
"I was starting to get games and enjoying playing again and then this freak accident happened.
"But I've spoken to assistant boss Craig Robertson and he said they want to keep me so that's good to hear."
