Dunfermline Athletic are hopeful that Scott Wilson will pledge his long-term future to the club.
The 26-year-old former Rangers defender still has a year of his current Pars deal to run, but East End Park boss Jimmy Calderwood would like to agree a fresh deal.
He told the Dundee Courier: "We were talking about breaking his contract open and we're still talking about that.
"He's got a year to go. He's done magnificently since he came from Rangers and we're trying to give him a new contract.
"All these things are done through agents and it takes longer than you would wish, but you don't want your best players out of contract."
