Pars hit by Thomson absence

Dunfermline boss Jimmy Calderwood has confirmed that Scott Thomson will miss Saturday's Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The club captain has been struggling to overcome an ankle injury and failed a fitness test at the weekend.

"He's definitely out," Calderwood told The Courier. "I spoke to Scott and he wasn't comfortable with it.

"The game is obviously important and he was desperate to play, but after consultation with the club doctor we sent him away.

"It is a big blow, because we are missing three quality defenders in Scott, Greg Shields and Scott Wilson.

"We'll just need to get on with it."
