Dunfermline defender Phil McGuire still believes the Pars can avoid the drop even after their latest defeat at Aberdeen left them eight points adrift at the foot of the table.

Despite beating Celtic and Hearts in the Scottish Cup, Dunfermline have failed to score in their last nine SPL matches and have not won since the 2-1 success against Dundee United in mid-November.

However, McGuire insists: "We've 11 games left and nothing has changed after this game. We're still eight points adrift.

"The games are creeping away from us, but we can still get out of the position we find ourselves in."
