Kenny in no mood to sell

Dunfermline manager Stephen Kenny hopes he can keep most of his squad together so he can launch an attempt to make an immediate return to the SPL next term.

The Pars' relegation was finally confirmed by Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but former Derry City boss Kenny is confident about the club's immediate future.

"I'm still digesting some of the disappointment that comes with relegation," he admitted.

"It's something that'll take a while to sink in for everyone. At the same time, we have to now begin to move forward and start with our planning.

"The fact that we're in Europe and the Scottish Cup Final helps ease some of the pressure of relegation.

"There are still a lot of negatives surrounding the fact that we've gone down and we realise that, but I'm a positive thinker and my objective now is to keep most of this squad together.

"I'll be speaking to the board in the next few days to go over all the implications, but the talks I've had so far are giving me encouragement that we can achieve that.

"Some players may have their own thoughts, but we have a lot of them under contract and we won't be looking to sell."
