Dunfermline Athletic's new boss Stephen Kenny was still upbeat despite seeing his side beaten 3-0 at home by in-form Aberdeen.
The Dons struck three times in the second half at East End Park, with mistakes from Greg Shields and Scott Wilson handing the visitors their first two goals.
However, Kenny said: "I didn't think there was much between the teams in the first half and even at the start of the second half, but individual errors killed us.
"I don't want to be too hard on the centre-backs because they were outstanding against Dundee United last week.
"But there wasn't much between the teams other than our mistakes.
"Our goal for this season is simply to avoid relegation and I think we have the players to do this with more than half the season left."
