Johnston stays focused as Dunfermline close in on League One crown

Dunfermline will secure the Scottish League One title with victory against visitors Brechin if other results go their way.

If Peterhead go down to Cowdenbeath the title will be Dunfermline's if they win, but the Pars will be without suspended winger Joe Cardle.

Michael Moffat is expected to return but Callum Fordyce (broken leg) remains a long-term absentee.

Manager Allan Johnston said: "We will look to win this game and then see what is happening elsewhere.

"Brechin are in fine form with four consecutive wins so beating them is getting all our concentration as opposed to events elsewhere.

"The players had to grind out a win at Cowdenbeath last weekend and we could need that approach again."

Brechin, who climbed off the bottom of the table last weekend, have added Dundee United full-back Jamie Robson on loan and Darren McCormack is also available after injury.

David Weatherston is out with a groin injury and on-loan midfielder Lewis Spence cannot feature against his parent club.

Player/manager Darren Dods said: "Dunfermline will be backed by a huge crowd who will be hoping that they win the league by defeating us.

"However we have just as much to play for as our hosts and we are looking at this game as a chance to get points on board to help us climb the table."
