Joe Cardle at the treble for Dunfermline

Joe Cardle's hat-trick guided Dunfermline to a thrilling 4-3 win at home to Dumbarton.

The Sons led early on through Robert Thomson, but after that it was all Dunfermline. Cardle netted twice in three minutes midway through the first half. After guiding Kallum Higginbotham's pass past Alan Martin, he put his side ahead from a Ryan Williamson cross.

Michael Moffat had missed a penalty for the home side at 0-0, but all that was forgotten when he set up Cardle for his third (66).

David Hopkirk put the Pars 4-1 up and seemingly it was all over.

Incredibly, in injury time, Mark Docherty had time to slot home two penalties to reduce the deficit, as Lee Ashcroft was sent off.
