Dunfermline seal title success with win over Brechin

Dunfermline clinched the Scottish League One title with seven matches to spare as Faissal El Bakhtaoui's hat-trick helped them to a 3-1 victory at home to Brechin.

Peterhead's defeat at home to Cowdenbeath meant three points were enough to start the party at East End Park and the Pars took advantage as Brechin's four-match winning run was ended.

Brechin lost player-manager Darren Dods to injury after just five minutes and fell behind three minutes later as El Bakhtaoiu sild in to convert Ryan Wallace's cross from the right.

Jason Talbot's long pass set up El Bakhtaoiu to double the lead in the 24th minute, but Brechin hit straight back to equalise a minute later when Robert Thomson beat the offside trap to score against his former club.

Wallace almost eased Dunfermline's nerves when he hit the crossbar early in the second half, but El Bakhtaoui completed his hat-trick in stoppage time to spark the celebrations.
