Four-star Morton ease to points

Morton kept the promotion pace with Forfar and Stranraer at the top of Scottish League One with a 4-0 win at Dunfermline, who suffered a major blow to their play-off hopes.

The hosts had their best opening just two minutes in, a great effort by defender Alex Whittle just flying wide of the right post, but soon Morton showed their promotion credentials and dominated from the half-hour mark.

Just before half-time, they broke through the Pars defences. Stefan McCluskey curled in a sublime finish, after being well played in by Ross Forbes.

Five minutes after the break the lead was doubled, right-back Lee Kilday slotting in from six yards after a pass from Mark Russell, before Declan McManus slotted home after 76 minutes, Forbes again the provider.

The rout was complete in the final minute, Mark Russell smashing past the beleaguered Ryan Scully, leaving Morton still one point behind leaders Stranraer.
