Dundee United boss Craig Levein admitted he was relieved with the return to winning ways after Thursday's 3-0 success at ailing Gretna.
Garry Kenneth, Morgaro Gomis and David Robertson were on the scoresheet at Fir Park as the Terrors consolidated fourth place in the SPL table with their first victory in six games.
United also closed the gap to third-placed Motherwell to just one point.
"It was a massive game for us because we have drawn the last four games, although we should have won every one of them," said Levein.
"It was beginning to get nerve-wracking for me, so it was good to put on a good performance.
"I was pleased with everyone who came in."
