Severin back to boost Dundee United

Scott Severin is set to play a major part in Dundee United's final six weeks of the season after enduring a nightmare start to his time at Tannadice.

The former Hearts and Aberdeen player signed from Watford at the end of the summer transfer window and made just 7 appearances before being laid low with an ankle injury. The 32-year-old came off the bench against Rangers and is now in contention to face Motherwell on Wednesday night.

He said: "It's great to be involved again. I think it was six and a half months since I last played."

He added: "It's a nightmare to join a new club then get injured so soon. I only played six or seven games then I was out.

"Initially it was supposed to be two weeks of rest then back again but it dragged on and then I needed an operation.

"There's no doubt the injuries which drag on like that are the worst ones. You think it won't be long until you're back but time just keeps ticking on.

"I have been watching from the stand and the lads have done brilliantly.

"The circumstances have not been easy, with injuries and the packed schedule. But the lads have shown a great resilience and are on a brilliant run just now.

"We have won the last six matches and that's not easy in this league. I think it has been 14 years since a Dundee United team has done that so that shows how difficult it is.

"It will be a tough one again on Wednesday because Motherwell are a good side."
