Robson seals Celtic switch

Celtic have completed the signing of Barry Robson from Dundee United on a three-and-a-half contract.

The former Terrors captain, who was linked with moves to several other clubs, is believed to have cost the Scottish champions around £1.5million.

Goalscoring midfielder Robson has found the net 12 times this season and made 165 appearances since joining the club in 2003.

He began his career at Rangers before moving on to Inverness Caley Thistle in 1997.

Meanwhile, Bhoys youngster Jim O'Brien has joined Dundee United on loan until the end of this season.

Speaking earlier in the day, Terrors manager Craig Levein admitted defeat in his attempt to keep Robson at Tannadice.

He said: "Both myself and the chairman would have preferred Barry to remain a Dundee United player, but he made it abundantly clear on a number of occasions that he wanted to move on.

"He felt that, at his age, he had one last chance of a major contract and we couldn't persuade him otherwise."
