Robertson targets more cup thrills

Scott Robertson is determined to enjoy more cup glory with Dundee United after feeling something of an outsider despite playing in their Hampden success against Ross County in May.

The midfielder came off the bench in the final stages of United's 3-0 Scottish Cup final win over the First Division side, who United face in Dingwall on Wednesday in the third-round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.

Robertson said: "They are good memories for the boys and shows what we can achieve if we play well. Having had that we will be even more hungry to taste that success."

It was a rare moment of joy for Robertson during an 18-month spell in which he underwent three groin operations as he struggled to get an injury-free run.

And the former Dundee midfielder now wants to play a more prominent role in their quest for further honours.

He added: "I never really played much of a part in the cup run so that makes me even more enthusiastic about doing well.

"I came on with 15 minutes to go for the final, and we were 1-0 up. I was injured for all the other ties. It's a great memory to have but I just wish I had played more of a part.

"I know it was the opposite for a couple of other boys, Darren Dods and Paul Dixon played every other round and were injured for the final. So I would prefer it my way round.

"But I've had my fair share of disappointments so I just want to move on and improve, because I know I'm not playing great at the moment. I want some happy memories of my own."
