Robertson rues Athens defeat

Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson was disappointed that the side didn't turn up when it mattered as they lost 1-0 at home to AEK Athens in their Europa League play-off first leg on Thursday evening.

Peter Houston's men now have a mountain to climb if they are to win through to the group stage of the competition after they crashed to Rafik Djebbour's early effort, but Robertson is remaining optimistic.

Robertson said: "I felt that we under-performed and did not get to the level that we know we can reach.

"Our final ball wasn't good enough and simple things like our passing let us down. I don't know why that was. It wasn't anything to do with nerves on my part, I just can't put my finger on why it never went as well as we hoped it would.

"The one thing that we can take from the match is that at 1-0 the tie certainly isn't over. It is very much still in the balance. We know that we need to go there and score and then hopefully not concede."
