Dundee United goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska was given the full backing of manager Craig Levein after the 1-1 draw with Hibernian at Tannadice.
Zaluska was in hot water in midweek after angrily gesturing at Aberdeen fans following the CIS Insurance Cup semi-final victory over the Dons, but Levein has handed the Pole his total support.
He commented: "Forget about the goalkeeper. If I arrived in Poland and got that kind of treatment, God knows what I would think of the Polish people.
"Let's look at the real problem here and that is these people who threw coins. Coins can hit people in the eye and cause a serious injury. That's far more serious than a two-fingered gesture or whatever Lukasz did.
"He said he was constantly getting abuse and things thrown at him. Similar things happened at the other end, so I don't want anyone to think I'm having a go at the Aberdeen fans.
"I'm having a go at the mindless idiots who throw things on to a football pitch. I will be more upset if anybody looks at his role in this and ignores the real problem."
