Levein makes McGovern wait
13 Mar 2009 - 09:54:13
Dundee United boss Craig Levein has admitted that he is uncertain whether to offer back-up goalkeeper Michael McGovern a new contract.
The 24-year-old has yet to feature for the Terrors this season, having been unable to displace Lukasz Zaluska despite the Pole having agreed a move to Celtic in the summer.
Levein said: "Michael was in to see me the other day about his situation and I said to him that it's a really difficult position.
"I've seen him in plenty of reserve games, but he wouldn't want me making a judgment based on them because they are nothing like first-team matches.
"He's going to come back and see me in a month and we'll look at whether things have changed.
"He's keen to find out what the future holds for him and I'm keen to get him on the park to determine whether he can do a job for us, but I won't do it just for the sake of it."
