Levein challenges Kenneth

Dundee United boss Craig Levein has challenged young defender Garry Kenneth to build on a disappointing last 12 months with the Terrors.

The 20-year-old ended last season on loan at Cowdenbeath, having struggled to live up to his billing as one of the club's rising stars.

Levein told The Courier: "He'll be fighting for his place like everyone else.

"I put him out on loan to Cowdenbeath last season because I felt he needed it at that time.

"We're not carrying a load of excess baggage this year player-wise, so Garry is definitely in contention, the same as the rest of them.

"This is a big season for a lot of our players, such as Garry, David Robertson and Greg Cameron, and I'm sure they'll enjoy the challenge."
