Dundee United have signed Irish striker Jon Daly from Hartlepool United for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old has penned a deal running until the summer of 2009 at Tannadice, having been allowed to leave Pools after they signed Richie Barker. Terrors boss Craig Levein told the club's official website: "I've been monitoring Jon for a couple of months, but first saw him around two years ago when he was with Stockport. "It's no secret that we've been thin on the ground in the striker department and, additionally, Jon gives us something different to what we already have. "He has scored nine goals this season already and, although he's been signed essentially as a target man, he is certainly capable of adding to this tally." Daly started his career with Stockport County and he has also played for Bury and Grimsby Town.
