Houston makes Terrors U-turn
26 Jan 2010 - 10:47:40
Caretaker manager Peter Houston has revealed he would now consider taking the Dundee United job on a permanent basis should it be offered to him.
Houston was handed temporary change of first-team affairs at Tannadice following Craig Levein's departure to take the Scotland job.
He initially suggested that a full-time role held no interest but, after four successive wins at the helm, he could no be persuaded to change his mind.
"First of all, I have to receive an offer from the chairman to take the manager's job until the end of the season, or whatever else he might have in mind," Houston told the Daily Record.
"If that happens then I have to get this business over and done with because it comes up after every game we play and I don't want any distractions to get in the way of the team.
"If we win the next two games then I might expect to be asked to extend my management of the side.
"I'm warming to the job after a start that closed my mind to the idea of taking over from Craig. Now my mind is open to the possibility.
"I'm not saying I've suddenly become a top manager just because United have won four games on the bounce.
"But I know I've got decent human beings as well as football players at my disposal and I know they are receptive to the idea of working more closely with me."
