Grainger to join Terrors

Dundee United have agreed to sign Gretna defender Danny Grainger when the transfer window reopens next week.

The 21-year-old left-back has made ten top-flight appearances for the Black & Whites this season but has been allowed to join the Tannadice outfit.

Grainger progressed through the youth ranks at Gretna and spent five-and-a-half years with the club.

Speaking after the 2-0 Boxing Day defeat by Celtic, Dundee United manager Craig Levein revealed he was looking to strengthen certain areas of his side.

"Until the first of January, when we can bring some players in, we continue to struggle in a couple of areas," he said.

"The full-back area is one of them and we are still light up front."
