Dundee United manager Peter Houston is hopeful that Spanish striker Francisco Sandaza will finally overcome a groin injury in the next few weeks.

The 25-year-old has yet to feature for the Terrors this season, having been forced to undergo an operation in November to try and cure his long-standing injury.

However, Sandaza's recovery has been going slowly, with Hopuston only now looking forward to welcoming the player back into the fold.

He told The Courier: "Fran is away back to Spain to see a physio there. It is a guy who works for Real Madrid, so he's in good hands.

"Fran will be back next Monday and he's told me he'll be ready to train.

"It has been a tough time for him, he's been demented because he's so keen to play again."
