Conway plans to push Old Firm
12 Dec 2008 - 10:01:25
Dundee United midfielder Craig Conway sees no reason why Craig Levein's side can't clinch a top-two finish in the future.
The Terrors are currently ten points behind second-placed Rangers but are in fine form having lost only one of their last 12 games.
The 23-year-old Conway told the Daily Record: "I don't think you can ever compete with the Old Firm in terms of number of fans and money coming in.
"But why can't we compete on the field? In the past players have thought, 'Oh no it's Rangers and Celtic', but now we believe we can get points against them and so do the other teams.
"Celtic and Rangers have finished first and second so many years. But a few years ago Hearts split them and maybe could have won the league.
"With some luck along the way we can do the same and get into the Champions League and really give the big two more to think about in the next few years."
