Buaben rues malaria setback
23 Jul 2009 - 10:53:53
Dundee United midfielder Prince Buaben has admitted to being shocked that he has contracted malaria.
The 21-year-old picked up the disease while on holiday back in Ghana, despite having initially taken tablets to guard against the problem.
He said:" I can't believe I picked up malaria. It has been quite a big shock. I went away with the national team and they gave me some pills, which I took.
"But I stayed on in Ghana for a while after the football was finished and I didn't have any more pills to take, so it seems my protection ran out.
"It is a serious disease and I hear you can die from it, but now we know what it is and I have the correct tablets I will be fine."
Meanwhile, the Terrors have completed the signing of Argentinian striker Damien Casalinuovo on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old has impressed during pre-season with the Tannadice club.
