Boss job not for Houston

Caretaker manager Peter Houston has ruled himself out of the running for the Dundee United job, despite guiding the Terrors to a 1-0 win at Hamilton Academical.

A David Goodwillie strike decided the game at New Douglas Park, before Houston made it clear that he does not want to succeed Craig Levein in the Tannadice hotseat.

He told reporters: "I will help the chairman and board of directors for as long as I can until they find a new manager.

"What I've said to the chairman is to make sure he gets the right one because there is no rush for it. It doesn't change my mind.

"I've known these guys for three years now, I've been in about their faces and I'm their pal at times and that's the way assistants work.

"You can become too familiar. It's working just now, but two months down the line we could lose that spark again."
