Vigurs eyes 'amazing' cup win

Ross County's Iain Vigurs is trying not to imagine lifting the Scottish Cup on Saturday - because he does not want to jinx it.[LNB] Staggies midfielder Vigurs is three days away from the biggest game of his life and in his club's history.[LNB]So the 22-year-old could be forgiven for imagining himself walking up the steps at Hampden to pick up the most famous trophy in Scottish football.[LNB]He said: "I haven't really let my mind wander to the game too much - I don't want to jinx it.[LNB]"But you can't help but think about stuff like that. If it happens, it'll be amazing."[LNB]The Scottish Cup was in Dingwall this week as part of the build-up to Saturday's showpiece but Vigurs was not among those eager to hold it.[LNB]"I haven't touched it; I don't know why," he said.[LNB]"Hopefully I'll touch it on Saturday."[LNB]Despite fears over a low attendance, this weekend's game against Dundee United is already close to being a sell out.[LNB]Vigurs said: "When we beat Celtic, my first thought was, 'I wonder what it'll be like for the final', because there won't be a Celtic or Rangers there.[LNB]"But, fair play to the Dundee United and Ross County fans because they're going to turn out in their numbers and it's going to be pretty incredible on game day."[LNB]Part of the reason for that is the number of supporters of County's rival Highlands clubs who will join many of the 5,000 population of Dingwall at Hampden.[LNB]Aberdeen-born Vigurs said: "I know there's a hell of a lot of people from Aberdeen going.[LNB]"I heard there's a few Inverness Caley fans going, which is brilliant. It's going to be a great turnout."[LNB]Since stunning Celtic in last month's semi-final, County's players have enjoyed hero status among the citizens of Dingwall.[LNB]"We still need to buy our own drinks," Vigurs joked.[LNB]"But every time you go into town, they've been brilliant, saying congratulations.[LNB]"I was down in Aberdeen and boys I hadn't seen in ages were coming up and congratulating me.[LNB]"It's such a big thing because it's a First Division side and it's Ross County from Dingwall.[LNB]"Everyone just appreciates how well we've done and how hard it's been."[LNB]Beating Celtic was down to an almighty performance from County but Vigurs believes toppling United may be even more difficult.[LNB]"It has to be one of the best performances that we've had this season," he said.[LNB]"Celtic was one of our best performances.[LNB]"I think we have to top that on Saturday."
