Transfer news: Dundee United mulling over second David Goodwillie approach
Dundee United failed with an initial loan bid for David Goodwillie and it is unclear whether they will return to the negotiating table.
The striker left Tannadice for Blackburn Rovers in August 2011, with the Ewood Park outfit fending off plenty of interest from elsewhere to land the Scotland international.
Goodwillie has, however, found the going tough in England - making sporadic appearances for Rovers and taking in a loan spell at Crystal Palace at the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
Dundee United have made no secret of their desire to take the 24-year-old home and have approached Blackburn regarding the possibility of putting a deal in place.
They have seen their efforts rebuffed so far and United boss Jackie McNamara admits he is in the dark when it comes to further transfer talks.
He told Sky Sports News HD: "We made an approach to Blackburn. They said it wasn't enough, so that's where we are at the moment. "If we go back in, we'll see. We have got other targets we are trying to pursue and hopefully we can get the right ones in.
"I think he's a very good player but there has to be a line as well. "It's a loan. It's different if you're buying someone and they are going to be an asset to your club. "He's a fantastic player and I would like the chance to work with him, but he's not our player. You can only try. So far it's not been successful, but we have got other players there we can add as well."
