SFL to decide fate of weekend ties

The Scottish Football League will discuss this weekend's fixtures with clubs in the next 24 hours.

The First Division match between Dunfermline and Partick Thistle has already become a victim of the weather.

An SFL statement read: "In view of the continuing severe weather, the SFL will contact clubs (on Thursday) regarding the IRN-BRU Scottish Football League Fixtures for this coming Saturday, December 4, 2010 to determine the up to date situation about pitches, surrounding areas and roads."

Dunfermline stadium manager and safety officer Kenny Arnott said on the club's official website, www.dafc.co.uk: "The sheer quantity of snow that has fallen and the forecast for further snow falls has led us to make the decision today to postpone Saturday's game."

On Tuesday, Dundee appealed for supporters to attend Dens Park on Thursday to clear snow in order to ensure the match with Cowdenbeath goes ahead as scheduled on Saturday.

The Dark Blues, currently in administration, are eager for much-needed cash which would be generated by a home game.

However, a statement on the club's official website, www.dundeefc.co.uk, read: "Please do not attend Dens Park on Thursday December 2. It is unlikely we will be able to clear all the snow. We will make a decision regarding the match (on Friday)."
