Robertson on the goal trail

Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson conceded he is desperate to end his two-year goal drought.[LNB] The Scotland squad man can vividly remember the last time he scored for his club - immediately citing when asked the day, opposition and even the build up to the goal off the top of his head.[LNB]Robertson has not found the net since facing Falkirk in December 2008 and while most of that is to do with having suffered a series of injury problems, the 25-year-old knows he has to start weighing in with goals now his fitness is back.[LNB]United have been relying on striker David Goodwillie to find the net for them and the youngster has scored eight times in his last 10 matches.[LNB]But Robertson is mindful they cannot look to just one man all the time and, after suffering near misses in the games against Motherwell and Hamilton recently, he is ready to locate St Mirren's goal in the Scottish Premier League clash at Tannadice on Wednesday night.[LNB]"I want to start scoring again as soon as possible - simple as that.[LNB]"It is nearly two years since I last scored a goal. Some of that is down to the fact I've been injured but I still want to change that.[LNB]"My last goal was against Falkirk back on December 27, 2008. It is etched in my memory.[LNB]"It was a volley from the edge of the box early on and we went on to win the game 1-0 - I can remember every single detail about it.[LNB]"Like any player, I do enjoy scoring goals and I'm looking to get back to doing that sort of thing because I was doing quite well round about that time.[LNB]"I have been back in the team recently and I've had a few chances to get on the scoresheet.[LNB]"I had another one in Saturday's win at Hamilton which I definitely should have done better with.[LNB]"I would be worried if I wasn't getting into those kind of scoring positions but I'm sure I'll hit the back of the net soon enough. You've got to miss them to score them.[LNB]"I'm feeling stronger with each game, getting more confident as well in what I'm doing.[LNB]"That's all to do with getting game-time under my belt after all I've been through.[LNB]"All it needs is for one to drop for me and hopefully I can stick it away to go on a wee goal run again."[LNB]St Mirren manager Danny Lennon believes United will be under pressure to put on a show in front of their own fans.[LNB]And the Buddies boss hopes his side can snatch a result if they can replicate the positives from their 3-1 defeat against Rangers.[LNB]Saints held the Scottish champions until early in the second half on Sunday and Lennon wants a bigger performance from his players tonight.[LNB]Lennon said: "The onus going to be on them, they are the home side, with the home support.[LNB]"Sometimes that means you've got to open up a wee bit and the crowd wants to be entertained.[LNB]"We will go there with a game-plan and we need to frustrate them as much as we frustrated Rangers in the first half on Sunday.[LNB]"But we've got to do it for longer spells in the second half."
