Houston hails 'Happy Feet' Robertson

Peter Houston admits that David Robertson does not look like the most accomplished footballer - but insists he is worth his weight in gold.[LNB] The Dundee United midfielder has an ungainly running style and earned the nickname 'Happy Feet' after a cartoon penguin for the way he moves around the park.[LNB]But Houston believes the 24-year-old is effective rather than graceful.[LNB]Robertson, who will be in Houston's midfield for the trip to Kilmarnock today, has played in virtually every position for United and has been enjoying his best spell of form so far this season.[LNB]Houston said: "David Robertson is not the most pleasing player on the eye to watch but he's a real players' player.[LNB]"He's been here for years, right through the youth ranks and has been a utility player - which has not always helped him.[LNB]"I've seen him play right back, left back, right across the midfield and even off the front in his time. So he's able to play a number of positions and does his bit.[LNB]"One thing you can guarantee from him is he gives everything and so often he does the donkey work for others.[LNB]"With his form lately it's hard to keep him out of the team. Against Aberdeen he picked up an injury in the first minute but kept going through it - that sums him up for me.[LNB]"He's a great boy and a great player. He'll fill every position for me and never moans about it once, he just gets on with the job.[LNB]"I like players like that."[LNB]Houston has declared himself satisfied with his team's form so far this season, although he admits they have not hit the peak of last term yet.[LNB]That is understandable considering Craig Conway and Danny Swanson have been missing but he still reckons they have enough to beat Killie.[LNB]He said: "We have a lot of flair players out of the team but I have been delighted with the lads.[LNB]"Scott Severin has brought the experience and calmness that I thought he would.[LNB]"He's done really well, I know what he's all about and he's starting to do what I thought he would.[LNB]"We've got a lot of young players, especially at the back, and he's had a positive impact on them.[LNB]"Our boys are getting more and more experienced in the SPL and having someone like Severin alongside them helps them along.[LNB]"We're not playing great football every week at the moment, which is understandable considering the likes of Conway and Danny Swanson are missing.[LNB]"But we've picked up a few decent results lately and want to keep that going against Killie."[LNB]Garry Kenneth has passed himself fit after picking up a head injury against St Johnstone last weekend and Houston reckons he will need to get ready for another bruising encounter.[LNB]He said: "Garry has trained all week, he's had the stitches out and it won't bother him.[LNB]"Killie are a good side, I watched them against Celtic and Aberdeen.[LNB]"Mixu's signings have done really well. He has brought in some good quality, the guy Eremenko has been a revelation and Connor Sammon is having a new lease of life.[LNB]"So we're in for another battle."[LNB]
