Houston angered by disturbance reports
Dundee United boss Peter Houston has expressed his anger after some of his players were allegedly involved in a disturbance in Glasgow.[LNB] Striker David Goodwillie and 18-year-old midfielder Scott Allan were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning, along with two other men.[LNB]And it is understood that United midfielder Danny Swanson, 23, was one of two men who were taken to hospital following the incident.[LNB]Allan, who has been on loan at Forfar, was charged with assault to severe injury when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court today, the Crown Office said.[LNB]Striker Goodwillie, 21, who has scored in each of United's last five SPL matches, was freed from police custody and did not appear in court.[LNB]A statement on the Clydesdale Bank Premier League club's official website read: "Dundee United understands that four of its players, Scott Allan, Barry Douglas, David Goodwillie and Danny Swanson, were involved in an incident in Glasgow in the early hours of Wednesday morning."[LNB]Houston added: "I do not wish to make any comments which may be construed as prejudicial as far as the specific incident is concerned.[LNB]"However, I will be both disappointed and angry if it transpires that my players allowed themselves to be put in a position whereby they became involved in a disturbance in the early hours of the morning, when they should have been home in bed.[LNB]"The players will be spoken to at the earliest opportunity."[LNB]John Friel, who is 22 and faces two charges of assault to severe injury, and Matthew Flynn, who is 22 and faces one charge of assault to severe injury and one charge of assault, appeared alongside Allan at court today.[LNB]No plea and no declaration were made and all three men were bailed, the Crown Office said.[LNB]Strathclyde Police said two men, aged 22 and 23, were treated for injuries at Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the incident and later released.[LNB]
