A big day for the Knights
One-year-old Blake McMillan was just three weeks of age when he was diagnosed with the extremely rare condition MeCP2 Duplication Syndrome. Blake is one of just seven boys in Scotland with the condition, and his parents, family and friends, by way of the Blake McMillan Trust, are raising money to contribute to a worldwide campaign to fund research which could potentially lead to a cure being found for the condition. So when big-hearted Dundee FC fan clubs the Big Rabbie D Dark Blues and the Robert Douglas Dark Blues heard of the fundraising campaign they decided to join forces and do something about it.
Wendy Knight of the Big Rabbie D club said, “Blake’s plight is so heart-rending that we felt compelled to make a contribution to the cause. So me, my husband Gary and our daughter Nicole joined with our good friends Trevor and Ross Muir of the Robert Douglas club and, with the blessing of Blake’s parents Jenny and Paul, we entered the Glasgow 10k run back in October. We raised £905 and were thrilled to bits to hand the cheque to Jenny and Paul at Dens Park before the match against Raith Rovers on Saturday 9th November.”
Needless to say, Jenny and Paul were equally thrilled by the Dark Blue fans’ very generous gesture.
